The 8th CILIP Academic and Research Libraries Group (ARLG) Discover Academic Research Training and Support (DARTS) Conference is to be held once again at the beautiful Dartington Hall, Totnes, Devon from Wednesday 24th to Thursday 25th May 2023. Aimed at Library and Information Professionals supporting research, the main theme for the conference is ‘Supporting Research Culture’.

The conference runs from Wednesday lunchtime (with registration and refreshments available from 1030) to 1600 on Thursday. The price represents great value. Included is overnight accommodation at Dartington Hall, refreshments, lunch on both days, breakfast on Thursday and a Conference dinner on Wednesday evening, preceded by a drinks reception sponsored by Sage publishing.

We have an exciting range of speakers and topics lined up including:

• Katherine Stephan from Liverpool John Moores University  and Judith Carr from the University of Liverpool are opening the conference. They will be discussing how to champion openness by being collaborative, along with sharing hints and tips on how others can support open access in their own institutions.
• Phil Jones, licencing manager at JISC, will be talking about open access books and the preparations for the implementation of the UKRI monograph policy.
• Samantha King, from Northumbria University, will be presenting on working with a research office effectively.
• Zosia Beckles, from the University of Bristol, will be giving a presentation on the implementation of Safepods, which are small standardised safe settings that provide the physical security and controls for a researcher to access sensitive datasets from participating Data Centres across the UK.
• Alice Percival, from the University of Cardiff, will be talking about the service provided by their University Press
• Robert Darby, from the University of Reading, will be discussing the role of  The UK Reproducibility Network (UKRN) and how libraries can support their work.
• Alex Freeman will be talking about Octopus and how libraries can support researchers with this product. 

 

There is also an opportunity to present a topic of interest through a PechaKucha session, as well as lots of time for networking and interaction with likeminded professionals.
