I realize now that some parts of my initial post are incorrect but I couldn't figure out how to edit it, so I'm responding with a follow-up and clarification. The first level FEAT makes sense for me, but I want to make sure I'm understanding the 2nd and 3rd levels correctly in the context of this dataset. Since each session contains only 1 MRI run, then at the 2nd level would I have a single within-participant EV specified as [-1 1] for the two runs across the subject's sessions with the two contrasts being post-pre [1] and pre-post [-1]? My thought is that by doing this, I'm setting up the pre/post contrast to then pass up to the 3rd level.

If so, then at the 3rd level I select the cope1 files from each contrast from earlier (i.e. 1back > 0back, 2back > 0back, and 2back > 1back), meaning that I'm assessing these contrasts between the post and pre session?
