Hi, thank you for your response! I have a small follow-up question. So, now I have clear that if I include the column of ones (the intercept), I must not use -D. Can I still demean the EVs?

If the answer to the question above is no, then when exactly do you have to demean the EVs? Because if you always must use either -D or a column of ones, and those two options demean the data and the EVs, according to that, you should never need to demean the EVs (because they will be demeaned using the column of ones or the -D flag). However, I find in many posts of this forum that it is recommended to demean the EVs. I’m a bit confused with that.

Thanks!

Assuming you have a known distribution of ages you _could_ do this, but most models will be fine with plain de-demeaned age. The effect on the model is to change the relationship with age - rather than testing for a linear relationship with age, you are now testing for a linear relationship with standard-deviations of age. Without knowing the ground-truth relationship between your data and age, it’s impossible to canonically say which is a “truer” model...

Correct - demeaning the regressor(s) representing the global mean will potentially result in issues when estimating model parameters..
