Dear All,

one post-doctoral position (TVL-13, 100%) is available from September 1st in my research group in Potsdam. The position is initially funded for 3.5 years covering both, research and teaching obligations. Our research projects focus on the investigation of the structure and function of ATPase and redox protein complexes as well as other multi-protein complexes using state-of-the-art cryo-electron microscopy, biochemical and biophysical techniques. The successful applicant is expected to purify multi protein complexes from yeast or bacteria, collect and analyze EM data, participate in the experimental design and method development, interact with internal and external collaborators, as well as participate in teaching of graduate and undergraduate students.  Techniques involved will include handling of multi protein complexes, high resolution imaging using cryo-EM, image processing, 3D reconstruction, and molecular modeling.

We are looking for a motivated and creative individual with a strong interest in functional and structural characterization of multi-subunit complexes. Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant subject area, such as protein biochemistry or structural biology. Experience in cryo-EM data collection and EPU usage is favoured. High-ranking international publications or successful acquisition of external funding, as well as experience in carrying out independent projects is beneficial. Experience in heterologous protein expression, purification of multi protein complexes, and either redox protein biology or ATPase biology is an advantage. Applicants should have excellent technical skills, good interpersonal skills and the enthusiasm to apply and develop new techniques. Competent interaction with students and staff in German and English language is expected.

Potsdam University is located in the Berlin/Brandenburg research area- a region known to have one of the highest density of research institutes in Germany. We have a Talos F200 equipped with a Falcon III detector, a Leica plunger and state-of-the-art GPU clusters. The group is part of the Unisyscat (Unifying Systems in Catalysis; https://www.unisyscat.de/) cluster of excellence.

Further information can be obtained from Petra Wendler. Please send your application in English or German by email to [log in to unmask] by July 31th, 2022. Applications should include a cover letter with a brief statement of research experience and interests, a CV, as well as copies of undergraduate and graduate certificates.
