The Journal of Criminology Research, Policy and Practice invites submissions for a special issue on new theoretical and practical developments in the assessment, management and treatment of psychopathy.

Overview of special issue

Over the past five years, new developments have been observed in the assessment, treatment and theoretical underpinnings of psychopathy. This special issue will allow these perspectives to be considered whilst placing an emphasis on applied research and where an interdisciplinary approach will also be encouraged. The special issue will capture psychopathy across a range of populations, thus moving away from the view of psychopathy predominantly as a forensic concern.

Consequently, this special issue seeks to promote innovative work that adopts new scholarly, methodological and conceptual approaches to understand psychopathy. Manuscripts accepted for this issue may, for example, include topics that capture:

· Conceptualisations and new theories of psychopathy;

· The alignment of psychopathy to recent developments in DSM and ICD;

· The relationship between psychopathy, risk and offending behaviour;

· New developments in the assessment and treatment of psychopathy;

· An exploration of psychopathy and its structure across populations.

Manuscripts should be written with an applied focus and where there is an aim to inform policy and practice. Manuscripts should be based on original empirical or theoretical work.
