Dear All,
The South Asian Anthropologists’ Group (SAAG) 2022 annual conference will
be hosted 7-9 September 2022 by the University of Edinburgh. Please find attached the Call for Papers in this email.
Our theme this year is Rethinking
the Everyday: Relations of Power, Resistance and Change. While
the everyday, as a distinctive lens in anthropology, has proliferated across social science disciplines, its consequent metamorphoses has also brought a variety of meanings and practices to the concept. Even as reflexive rethinking of the concept and its itinerant
binaries unfolds across the academe, the pandemic has transformed the investigation of the everyday altogether, when the extraordinary is the new everyday. Please see the attached Call for Papers for further details.
Despite the title, attendance is not restricted to anthropologists but open
to all who use an ethnographic mode of research. We welcome abstracts (no more than 250 words) from all doctoral and early career researchers of South Asia(ns) by Sunday, 8 May 2022. Unless you have valid reasons, this deadline is sacred.
Since we last met in 2019, South Asia (and the world itself) has changed
in significant ways. We expect to facilitate engrossing discussions, meaningful interactions with leading scholars, and exciting afterhours at SAAG 2022. We look forward to meeting many familiar and new faces at SAAG in Edinburgh.
Please do forward this email to interested scholars and mailing lists in
your networks.
Regards
The SAAG 2022 Team,
The University of Edinburgh.
