Primary Research Group Inc. ha published College Tutoring Programs Benchmarks, 2022 Edition, ISBN 978-1-57440-702-0

This report looks closely at how college tutoring programs are handling the ongoing pandemic and how their recent experiences will impact their efforts in the future. The study gives detailed data and commentary on trends in the number of sessions offered, key subject areas, and the number of sessions conducted online vs in-person, by student tutors vs. full time faculty, adjuncts, and other non-student tutoring staff. It also helps its readers to answer questions such as: how much have colleges been spending on their tutoring programs and what is the outlook for the near future? What new applications and technologies are they favoring and what is on their wish lists? How are they handling assessment? Integration of tutoring into the overall college retention effort? What is the role of the academic library in tutoring? How are at risk students encouraged to seek tutoring?

37 colleges contributed data and commentary to the report, and survey respondents were primarily directors of college tutoring programs.

Some of the many findings of the report were that:

•	64% of survey participants offered online tutoring options.

•	Students from research universities were more dependent upon in-person tutoring than were students from other types of higher education institutions.

•	Overall, drop-in tutoring accounted for 55.6% of tutoring staff time.

•	At 4-year colleges more than 90% of tutoring sessions were done by student tutors.

•	The number of total sessions dropped during the past year.

•	The mean duration of tutoring by appointment was 10.13 weeks.

Data in the report is broken out by size and type or Carnegie class of college, as well as for college tuition level, and for public and private colleges.
