SEX
IN TOURISM
Exploring the Light and the Dark
Edited by Neil Carr and Liza Berdychevsky
Reviews
Neil Carr and Liza Berdychevsky deserve all accolades for editing a book that focuses on the nexus between sex and tourism, openly illuminating its light
and dark sides. The readers of this thought-provoking book will be exposed to the intricate and profound ties between sex and tourism affecting individuals, communities, societies, and the tourism industry.
Yaniv Poria, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel
This book provides a contemporary collection of the latest ideas about sex in tourism. It’s refreshing to see the contributions from African scholars, who
give some unique insights on this topic that both add to and complement our knowledge of sex in relation to tourism. The book will be a useful resource for graduate classes and by researchers in a range of different disciplines.
Heather J. Gibson, University of Florida, USA
As with all the best edited books, the big picture is here – Carr and Berdychevsky succeed in reducing what is irreducible to a comprehensible conceptual
pattern – but so is the telling empirical detail and the required moral sensitivity, which brings us up close to the otherworldliness of sex in tourism.
Tony Blackshaw, Sheffield Hallam University, UK
