Teacher for Greek chorus work

MA Acting Classical at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama is looking for an acting/movement teacher for for Greek chorus work in January-February 2022 (c.50 hours’ teaching at £36.22/hr ). Experience working with Greek plays in contemporary adaptations necessary, as well as willingness to work inter-linguistically. Background in movement and/or musicianship/percussion highly desirable, as the work should involve singing and movement/choreography, as well as choral speaking. Ensemble-building experience also highly desirable. We especially welcome people to apply from backgrounds historically underrepresented in the drama Conservatoire and Higher Education sector, and who are committed to building and sustaining a diverse, inclusive and equitable environment and industry. Team-teaching proposals are also welcomed.

Please contact Ben Naylor, MA Acting Classical Course Leader, at [log in to unmask] with an up to date CV and “MA Acting Greek Chorus” if you have the skills we’re looking for.

Teacher for Viewpoints and Active Analysis units

MA Acting Contemporary at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama is looking for an acting teacher for Viewpoints and Active Analysis work from 10th January 2022 to 5th March 2022 (c.90 hours’ teaching at £36.22/hr). Strong movement abilities and experience working with Bogart’s Viewpoints with a view to ensemble building is essential. The second part of the post demands an embodied knowledge of Active Analysis in contemporary actor training and the ability to teach a clear, psychophysical character and scene analysis process to training actors. An interest in late Stanislavsky, his successors Demidov and Vakhtangov, or experience with a later articulation of the process such as that of Katie Mitchell could all be useful.

Confidence in working with 19th and early 20th Century naturalistic texts plus their modern adaptations (e.g. (Inua Ellams' Three Sisters) and counterparts is vital, along with more choric modern texts in the Viewpoints unit. A willingness to team-teach and work collaboratively, integrating practice across the team, is also essential. Whilst we are hoping to find a single person to cover both sections, we are also interested in hearing from those who feel they particularly suit one. We especially welcome people to apply from backgrounds historically underrepresented in the drama Conservatoire and Higher Education sector, and who are committed to building and sustaining a diverse, inclusive and equitable environment and industry.

Please contact Morwenna Rowe, MA Acting Contemporary Course Leader, at [log in to unmask], with an up-to-date CV and “MA Acting Contemporary” in the subject line if you are interested.
