in the related fields of embodied theatre research on behalf of Dr Savita Rani from India...

Intercultural Roots is supporting Dr Savita Rani in seeking a potential postdoc supervisor in the related fields of embodied theatre research who is based at a Swiss university.  Please contact [log in to unmask] if you might be interested supporting her proposal.  Otherwise we are grateful if you could please share with colleagues.

Dr Savita Rani is a theatre practitioner and researcher working at present as a performer, writer, director, trainer in India. Savita completed a PhD entitled ‘A Study on Devised Solo Theatre in India’ in 2020 and completed a theatre course specialised in acting from the National School of Drama, New Delhi in 2008. Her area of interest is embodied theatre research (practice based research) focusing on devising as a tool in developing a pedagogy to foster creative exchange in education and research.

‘My strong motivated to indulge in practice based research comes from the desire to explore and experiment in devising solo work that facilitates identification and association with the self and people across the globe, without any prior impression and judgments imposed on us by any external power. I feel the concept of PERSONAL IS POLITICAL has tremendous possibilities in leading towards new insights in understanding the world in a more complete sense, which is otherwise limited by assuming it as one aspect of feminist theory (again a notion). In this research I intend to evolve further based on my already in progress performance titled ‘Notion(s)’, which has also been granted support by the Serendipity Art Festival of 2020.

The SWISS embassy is offering a one year scholarship for post doctoral studies in Switzerland. I feel being based in multicultural Switzerland, being bordered by France, Germany and Italy, is going to be very helpful for both my personal and research development. Firstly, I need to be able to confirm a post doctoral supervisor in the field of art practices my research relates to.'
