> Dear all
>
> We have an exciting new role in Digital Scholarship at the University of Oxford for a Linked Data RSE, details below, and feel free to contact me for informal enquiries.
>
> https://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/CFR764/research-software-engineer-linked-data
>
> Grade 7: £32,817 - £40,322 p.a.
>
> The Humanities Division and Bodleian Libraries seek an experienced individual who will take responsibility for planning new, and supporting existing, linked data research and advocating for Linked Data methodologies as part of the new Digital Scholarship at Oxford (DISC) initiative. DISC is part of a large University Strategic Research Fund investment over the next five years to support the development of digital scholarship activities.
>
> In this new role, you will be responsible for supporting the technical developments as part of the Linked Art II project and a range of researchers and projects throughout the University. You will work closely with the Digital Projects Manager, the Head of the Centre for Digital Scholarship, a new academic Director, and Research Software Engineer (RSE) staff across the Bodleian Libraries, Oxford e-Research Centre, Computer Science Department and IT Services.
>
> We need someone with a high level of competency in linked data technologies such as RDF, CRIDOC CRM, JSON or JSON-LD, RESTful APR development, Python or JavaScript, and who is also able to work with partners from a variety of specialisms and backgrounds, particularly in the Humanities. You will be strongly creative and have analytical and problems solving skills, as well as the ability to organise and prioritise your work effectively.
>
> You will spend the first part of the role working on the Linked Art II project, working with partners in museums and galleries to develop Linked Art ‘exemplars’, and to implement some of these as proof of concept software implementations. Following the end of this project, you will spend the next 18 months working with a range of digital scholars to contribute to the creation and delivery of new research projects. Your work will be varied; you will work with scholars from different departments and Divisions across the University, as well as developers and practitioners from the Gardens, Libraries and Museums. You will work on the first stages of research project development as well as building finished products for major funded research projects. You will design high quality sustainable software, which delivers research outcomes, and support the development and release of new software within DISC. You will provide some training for the next generation of digital scholars and work with the Oxford, national and international software communities to develop your own skills and continue your professional development.
>
> The post is fixed-term for 2 years. While the post can be filled as a full-time position, there is also flexibility to realise the post as a part-time configuration over a longer period, particularly where this enables continuation of parallel part-time positions within the cultural heritage sector. For an informal discussion about the post, please contact to Megan Gooch ([log in to unmask]).
>
> Internal applicants who wish to be considered on a secondment basis must confirm that they have discussed the secondment with their line manager.
>
> Applications must be submitted online. You will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your application. The deadline for applications is 12:00 noon on Wednesday 2 June 2021. Interviews are expected to be held on Tuesday 15 June 2021.
