In your experience, what is the typical professional profile of a SI-PASS Supervisor? To put it another way, what might be the professional prerequisites for that role?
We had a staff member leave suddenly (the week before PASS Training) and two staff had to quickly come on board to assist with the training – neither were SI-PASS trained. I had worked in the Disability Service for years as a notetaker and Assistive Technology
Tutor; my colleague worked as the Access Officer at the time. I think personality is much more important than professional prerequisites, i.e. to be fun, positive, approachable, quick-thinking, easy-going, encouraging and innovative.
Would you say that a background in teaching is important especially for PASS Leader training or is the four-day Supervisor course sufficient for most people incl. those without a grounding in pedagogy?
No, but it will help to grow and evolve the programme, such as the training.
How much work is involved in developing and delivering a pilot for one department - does it warrant a full-time Supervisor post?
Sorry, I’ve no idea, our programme was established a few years before I joined the team!
I hope this helps,
Aoife

Dear colleagues
At Royal Holloway, we have various mentoring initiatives in place but are now (finally) looking at implementing an SI-PASS pilot. Could I pick your brains on some questions around the role of the Supervisor (or scheme co-ordinator) ?
Any thoughts on the above would be much appreciated!
Best regards
Gerard
