It's never going to be as cost effective as a vaccine shot, but it's always going to be better than last year of life cancer treatment. I'm involved in designing a study which seeks to measure the health outcomes for domestic retrofit. We would usually try and do a pre and post-test survey but there is only time to undertake one survey per household. Does anyone have any (innovative) ideas of what surveys work best in a snapshot survey (we're leaning towards GHQ-12 although it only tests for mental health issues and would prefer some measure of other health outcomes) or any other ideas for alternative methodologies we could use to measure health outcomes?
