The ICAS Book Prize

The ICAS Book Prize (IBP) was established in 2004. It aims to create an international focus for academic publications on Asia, thus increasing their worldwide visibility. The biennial ICAS Book Prize is awarded for outstanding English-language works and dissertations on Asia, and has always been organized around broad interdisciplinary bases (Social Sciences and Humanities) rather than traditional geographic or disciplinary compartmentalization.

Starting in 2017, so as to reflect ICAS’ decentralizing approach, the IBP now also honors publications in Chinese, French, German, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish (in addition to the original English Edition). Other language editions are due to follow.

Portuguese and Spanish languages edition of the ICAS-Sephis Publications Prize
The ICAS Book Prize in Portuguese and Spanish is co-organized by ICAS and Sephis in dialogue with several Iberian and Latin American academic institutions. The intention is to disseminate scientific and editorial production in Portuguese and Spanish languages in the field of Asian studies.

Not accepted: reference books, anthologies, fiction, poetry, travel books, autobiographies, memoirs, pamphlets, textbooks, exhibition catalogs, as well as translations (into Spanish and Portuguese) of publications originally appeared in other languages.
