Yes, it's on Youtube but the picture quality is poor. If possible, watch the Amazon version. Sadly, there appears to be no DVD version of this film. There was a VHS version that I showed to my students for several years. But my university has done away with "tape machines" (and DVD players are on the way out, also) so it is good that Amazon provides the film. As I say, the Youtube version is okay, but (as with the William Whyte fllm on "The Social Life of Urban Spaces"), this Youtube version could disappear at any time because of copyright infringement.

The William Whyte film is fascinating in this regard, since it comes and goes on YouTube. Why the Project for Public Spaces doesn't allow the film into public domain is a curious question, but they haven't. and it's a great loss for e/b research.

Prime is not free; the Youtube version is. I mentioned the Prime version because it is excellent picture and sound quality; the Youtube version is not as good picture/sound-wise, but it's good enough for adequate viewing.

The problem is that you have to be registered in Prime video for monthly payment in order to watch any film although the specific is for its free.

Is there a way to upload it to another platform (vimeo, youtube)

All,

Just in case you don't know, the early 1990s film about architect Christopher Alexander, "Places for the Soul" (directed by film maker Ruth Landry) is now available on Amazon Prime, no charge. The film highlights two of Alexander's projects: the shelter for the homeless in San Jose, CA; and, the multi-building Eishen School campus outside Tokyo, by far Alexander's largest-scale project.

The film is interesting in that the Eishen client works well with Alexander, whereas Alexander and the San Jose client have considerable tussles.

A useful student introduction to Alexander's work, though I find that viewers are either touched deeply (I've had students cry) or think the whole idea nuts. Link is below.

A portrait of Christopher Alexander, an architecture critic on a quest to build harmonious, livable places in today's world. The film examines two projects - a spectacular high school in Japan and an innovative homeless shelter in California. For Alexander, feelings come first, users are deeply engaged and process is paramount. What happens when innovation goes up against standard practice?
