Subject: Making the Invisible Visible: Working to combat racism in Kent and Medway Summit invitation
Medway African and Caribbean Association in partnership with the University of Kent invites you to a summit to explore and discuss ways to combat racism in Kent and Medway.
Recent events have highlighted the continued injustice and racial discrimination of Black people globally. We have seen
many organisations and individuals react to these global incidents and witnessed the outrage at how in a modern and diverse society, we are still having to tackle these issues.
As a charity MACA have been engaging in discussions and working with organisations and the community to tackle inequalities
and promote a more sustainable and integrated approach to equality and diversity. We are often called upon in times of crisis or just before Black History month.
We decided to organise this summit to bring together key organisations and institutions across Kent and Medway who remain
committed to bringing about positive and sustainable change.
We have been contacted by many organisations across Kent and Medway in light of recent events to explore some of the current
issues around race and diversity, and it is hoped that those who remain committed to creating real and sustainable solutions will attend.
We are delighted to welcome guest speakers:
Professor Toni Williams: University
of Kent and Everett Henry: Director of CommTas and former National Lead for equality and inclusion for Policing.
Who should attend?
We are inviting a cross section of organisations, businesses, councils, education, private and voluntary sector, local media
and health to attend.
