I did this for my father's email several years ago, using Thunderbird's ability to import from Pegasus. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Importing_from_Pegasus This gets the email converted to the open mbox format. I don't recall where Pegasus stored its files, but they have extensions .pmm, .pmi and .cnm, so perhaps you can find them.

All the best,

Peter

Hello Listserve

I am not sure where to post this query, but hope that more expert list members might be able to point me in the right direction? We have recently started cataloguing the digital parts of a major literary archive where the creator died in 2017. I went to the family home a couple of times to try to take the digital data off his old PC. I managed to do this for most things, except for his emails, which were in the Pegasus system which is very old hat these days.

Could you recommend any advice on how I might go about harvesting these from his PC? I spent quite a bit of time browsing through various folders etc but didn't find anything obvious looking, and there didn't appear to be an Export function within the email software system itself. So I have come to a halt.

Any advice would be welcomed, such as tips for me on what to try next, or if we need to refer this to some kind of specialist. It looks like the material held in email format will be a significant addition to the creator's personal papers, so we would like to make all efforts to retrieve it.

I look forward to hearing from you

Best wishes
