italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies Salve, mi pare che nella canzone di Tozzi (1980) si tratti proprio del significato 2 dello Zanichelli 1987: «2. spensierato al punto di essere irresponsabile.» La canzone fu un grande successo commerciale (avevo 15 anni), ma non mi ricordo di averla mai collegata né sentita collegare all'omosessualità. A parte la parola in questione, non c'è niente che indichi che non si tratti di amore tra uomo e donna: due volte dice «la vuoi» (= vuoi lei) e parla di un «corpo a forma di esse» e di un figlio cui trasmettere il colore degli occhi. L'"Elefante gay" l'ho scoperta oggi. Forse non ebbe una grande diffusione nel 1984, nonostante le polemiche che suscitò. Probabilmente a Milano l'omosessualità è stata accettata prima che nella provincia italiana. Prima di oggi non conoscevo nemmeno "Onda gay". Non credo proprio che l'abbiano mai trasmessa alla radio. Quella volta non c'era Youtube. Dipende anche da come intendiamo il mainstream, ma mi resta l'impressione che la parola si sia diffusa dopo il 1985, come scrive Giovanni Dall'Orto, e che entri nell'uso comune con un valore quasi neutrale ancora più tardi.
