SOUND, IMAGE AND INTERACTION DESIGN SYMPOSIUM (SIIDS) 2020
CALL FOR PAPERS (EXTENDED DEADLINE: 3/JULY/2020)

ARDITI (Regional Agency for the Development of Research, Technology and Innovation), Funchal, Madeira (Portugal), 4/September/2020

There has been a growing interest in the study of sound and music computing from a Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) perspective. This coincides with the shift to a third wave of HCI toward applications in broader cultural contexts. In the last few years, researchers have paid special attention to the integration of other sensory modalities with sound. In this context, SIIDS - Sound, Image and Interaction Design Symposium (Funchal, Madeira, Portugal) aims to address emerging issues in research related to the creation of interactive sonic experiences, particularly focusing on the role that image plays in these scenarios.

The keynote speaker for SIIDS 2020 will be Thor Magnusson, Professor of Future Music at University of Sussex (https://profiles.sussex.ac.uk/p164902-thor-magnusson <https://profiles.sussex.ac.uk/p164902-thor-magnusson>).

We are interested in short paper submissions related to connections between sound, image and/or interaction, and the topics of interest listed below. There is no participation fee. Due to the uncertainty related to COVID-19, this will be an ‘online first’ event (that is, mostly online; participants can present and attend locally in Madeira or online remotely).

The short paper submissions will be published at the symposium website. Authors will be invited to submit an expanded version of their submissions to a Special Issue of the journal EAI Endorsed Transactions on Creative Technologies (https://eudl.eu/journal/ct). The Special Issue based on the previous (first) edition of SIIDS can be found at: https://eudl.eu/issue/ct/7/23
