*This thematic issue of Galactica Media: Journal of Media Studies will
present fresh discussions on the current situation and challenges
encountered in media studies, culture and society in the ever changing
landscape in Africa and Asia as well as reflections on how democratic
developments have impacted the society in both continents in order to
identify and explore a range of important questions regarding its
significance for the changing nature of media, culture and society in the
digital age.*

*2. 2020. Vol 2. No 3: Make the Superhero Great Again!*
The deadline - August 30, 2020.

*It is certain that a superhero is a kind of litmus test that indicates the
directions of modern society development. But it is also a testing ground,
where certain ideas are tested, because society votes with its attitude to
each new image of a superhero, approaching it quite critically, accepting
or rejecting it. Therefore, we can say that a superhero is a dynamic
figure, developing and well indicating the state of public moods,
aspirations and expectations.*
*3. 2020. Vol 2. No. 4: Asian Tigers in the Digital Jungles*
The deadline - October 30, 2020.

*Southeast Asia is the most densely populated region in the world, where
neighboring states are political and economic heavyweights, leading players
in a globalized world, and small countries that retain their distinctive
appearance and style. It is a cauldron of ethnic groups, religions,
worldviews, which has given rise to many alternative ways of integrating
traditions and modernity. In particular, Asian media, especially electronic
ones, and social networks such as Chinese Weibo, WeiChat, Tencent and
Qzone, South Korean Naver, and Japanese Line can serve as an example of
such integration.*

We will announce the CFP for 2021 soon!

Best wishes,
Rastyam Aliev
