Dear all

We are very excited to be launching this new GEM mentoring programme - thank you to everyone who has volunteered to be a mentor.

If you are keen to be a mentor and haven't as yet heard back from GEM please do send myself and Melissa a DM.

Many thanks

Rachel

Subject: GEM Mentoring Programme - Call for Mentees

Applications are now open for GEM’s new mentoring programme, “One to One”  which has been set up to support mentees of any age/skill level who have a learning role in museums and heritage sites during a difficult time for the sector. One to One is open to applicants from all over the UK and we especially welcome applications from N Ireland, Wales and Scotland. Generously supported by Nimrod Capital, this programme will be open to members and non-members.

An ace team of mentors have been assembled from across the UK, who are all museum professionals with a range of experiences and include heads of departments, consultants, lecturers and Sandford Award judges.

There are 40+ mentee spaces available to support your work in learning within museums and heritage sites.

What you’ll receive:
2 x bookable mentoring sessions (60-90 minutes each) between June and August 2020.

How to apply:
Complete a short application form at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/2NWH32X
The questions ask you to think about the type of skills, development needs or issues that you may want to talk about. The information that you provide will be used to help match you to a mentor.

How mentees will be selected:
We aim to match as many mentees with mentors as possible. GEM Members will be given priority in the selection process. There is a particular emphasis for supporting career development and for those who’ve been furloughed at this time, however all members are encouraged to apply.

If you are unsuccessful in this round of applications, we will keep your details on a waiting list until the end of August in case a mentoring partnership becomes available.

Museum Development Network also provides a range of support services in your area including mentoring. To find information for your area, please visit their website. https://museumdevelopmentnetwork.org
