Dear postgrad members,

It's been a pretty disrupted time, between the strike and the coronavirus. We've missed the opportunity to tell you more (often) about the Peter B Clarke Memorial Essay Prize 2020. This is an essay competition that runs annually for a postgraduate essay in the sociology of religion.

If you have found your fieldwork disrupted by the requirement to stay at home and minimise physical contact with people, maybe April is a good month to spend time building part of your research into a 6-7000 word essay. We would ordinarily name the winner at our Socrel Annual Conference, but this year's event in York has been (sadly but understandably) cancelled. We can still have the contest, though, and we can still award a winner.

You'll find details at our website, on the "funding" page. PLEASE NOTE the documentation reflects the original deadline of 15 April, but we are extending the deadline to 30 April to account for the muted promotion so far. https://britsoc.co.uk/groups/study-groups/sociology-of-religion-study-group/funding/

If you have questions, get in touch. Otherwise, please consider writing and submitting an essay.

With best wishes,
Michael Munnik
