HI Kate / all
Likewise agree that Diversity is fundamentally important and to be celebrated in its amazing awesomeness at all aspects.
I think its important that we as a ‘being’ have a diversity statement or position. Maybe a potential first goal of the special interest group?? Nothing fixed but able to evolve as and when needed.
With regards positive discrimination, I think its essential to ensure inclusion and Equity throughout the profession. Baring in mind that Equity is very different to equality.
If its handy I’m also a member of the NADSN (National Association of Disabled Staff Networks) Steering Committee (Region Lead) so their maybe some cross over that we can get support from.
Until then if its okay, I might start inviting people with diverse aspects to get in touch to ensure inclusion as much or as little as they so wish.
If I can be of any further help or assistance please do not hesitate to contact me
Kind regards,
Rich

Thanks Rich, I am pleased that you see yourself in this, and that there is potential for some leadership in your area of expertise.
Diversity and how to ensure it.... a big issue! Not sure how we best address it without being prescriptive, is positive discrimination appropriate and if so, how much??

Hi Kate / all
I like the idea of the restructure
To me it seems more like I fit best in a specific interest group of Diversity / Disability, mainly as my PhD centres totally around these aspects in relation to counselling.
As a person with rich cultural background it would be lovely to see more diversity in all groups but specifically pluralism.
I’d be happy to work alongside a group regarding this and feed back to the steering committee.
If I can be of any further help or assistance please do not hesitate to contact me
Kind regards,
Rich

Subject: Restructure proposal for steering group
Good afternoon all,
The group held a meeting yesterday and chatted about a couple of ongoing activities, but the main discussion incorporated a range of views on the proposals for a restructure of the steering group.
So quick update ...
The following are the main points raised about the restructure
The picture has morphed in to a hub and spoke model, but not crystallised... so can I ask for thoughts on the following questions which we will try and nail down at the next meeting.
We have a few weeks to get everyone’s voice heard, so please get involved
Thanks
Kate
