Hi Rohan,

Our University IT services use Panopto for remote learning courses. For your latter requirement, sharing ppt slides etc, WebinarJam may be an option.

Whereby for up to groups of 12

We ran a Zoom virtual street tree tour yesterday with 60 participants including one we didn’t want - heavy breathing which kicked the host off - intriguingly it happened just after the word ’sex’ was said by a participant (spooky) - however, the other 59 participants have said they thought it was funny incident and didn’t shock them etc. etc. We are about to run a feedback analysis so may find that on second thoughts they were upset.

We (stupidly) made the Zoom meeting open - so anyone could ‘drop in’ but we encouraged people to make a donation / discretionary ticket price - intriguingly we were receiving donations right up to and beyond the start of the meeting / tour, and we forgot to lock the meeting.

We had several people make donations after the event was over.

We had recorded the meeting / tour - the recording was excellent and stopped when the host was Zoom-bombed so no heavy breathing on the recording thankfully.

This is a huge learning curve for us, and we are still learning.

Best, Andrew

I'd personally be walking away from Zoom as quickly as possible. The security and privacy issues are truly terrible.

We like https://whereby.com - no software downloads required, free for small rooms, screen sharing, great latency.

Btw, if anyone wants a bigger room temporarily, we've got a premium account with The Museum Platform - drop me an email at [log in to unmask] and I'll hook you up with a freebie :-)

Cheers

Mike

Hello all

Apart from the famous Zoom option, which our board have taken to well, what other online video training options are out there and can be recommended by MCG members?

For training of volunteers, one on one and on groups between six and ten at at time, in use of software packages.

The former, some kind of shared screen option where the trainee could access the user interface, by screen sharing the trainer's PC and be talked through the process as they did it themselves.

The latter, for a training seminar. An alternative to Zoom. Preferably one that's easier to show powerpoint slides on when the host is talking.

Thanks!
