COVID 19  Planning Update: In line with the City Council Business Continuity Plan and with Government advice issued relating to Coronavirus, the Planning service has had to close its offices.

We are currently seeking to establish remote working capacity,  but this is in the context of wider critical service pressures across the council. We are finding that our ability to handle and process large files remotely is very constrained.

As a result there will be delays in service such as the validation and processing of new applications. In terms of responding to queries relating to the current workload, we will not be able to offer face to face meetings, but will seek to use online methods to maintain dialogue where possible.

The arrangements for Planning and Development Control Committee are currently under review.

Under the circumstances, we would appreciate a constructive approach from applicants and agents to agreeing reasonable extensions of time for planning applications and prior approvals wherever possible and necessary.

Please bear with us as we all try to establish working arrangements to minimise the obvious impacts of this situation, thank you.
