Hello,

Still business mostly as usual here at GGAT in South Wales, just from home rather than Swansea!  Had a bit of an influx of enquiries in the first week or so (great to have time sensitive work to do while you’re trying to adjust to working from home! Ahem…).  Seems to have settled down now though.

Re the Welsh Trusts and furloughing – to my knowledge, none of the HER staff have been furloughed, though some people from other departments may have been (eg from the commercial arm of the Trust).

Take care all!

Yup business as usual here in Warwickshire just slower and harder working remotely! (oh and anyone who has kids knows the suffering parents are going through right now!).

We still have HER enquiries coming in and plenty of work to keep us going!

As far as I understand it public sector workers cannot be furloughed but I know some have been redeployed/reassigned work.

I have seen one worrying thing from Wales though is that some Archaeological Trust staff appear to have been furloughed, anyone from Wales able to comment on that?

Keep safe and sane everyone!

Hi all,

Still working at Bedford Borough. Given the amount of major infrastructure schemes that are still progressing, we are still required to monitor fieldwork etc. (in accordance with safe-working conditions) so have escaped being furloughed for now.

On the HER front, we continue our 4 yearlong battle for remote-hosting including making repeated emergency business cases – although we have the support of our management who will pay and we have checked every small technical detail and presented all the solutions to ICT, the latter keep sitting on this and won’t progress.

In the meantime everything takes 4x as long over a dodgy VPN, so whilst it might sound a little odd at this time, our backlog of planning and HER work continues to grow. And that’s 4x as long with one of us starting at 5.30am and other working up until midnight to run queries when traffic over the VPN is quietest.

Take care all.

We’ve not had a Friday afternoon question for a long time and there doesn’t seem to be much activity which suggests to me that either you are all hunkered down at home working or you’ve been taken off HER work or been furloughed.

Here in Somerset, we are continuing HER work as (almost) normal from home. Much of this has been NRHE – HER transfer but there have still been enquiries. Planning applications don’t seem to have slowed much, though there’s not much fieldwork being undertaken.

So over to you – if there’s anyone there – what’s happening elsewhere?
