Dear all,
The University of Stavanger invites applicants for two PhD fellowships in Innovation and Regional Studies. The positions are vacant from 1 September 2020. The application deadline is 10 May 2020. The PhD positions are funded by the EU-financed Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network "Policies for Smart Specialisation" (POLISS, grant agreement no. 860887).

POLISS has the aim of making the design, implementation and evaluation of Smart Spec policies more effective in Europe. It is a collaboration of 8 leading European academic institutions and 14 partners spanning local governments, development agencies, international organizations, research institutes and private companies.

The project comprises 15 PhD positions, of which two will work at the University of Stavanger. One PhD position will examine smart specialization in selected regions with a view to exploring how regions have managed - or failed -to overcome governance failure in the development of smart specialization strategies. The second PhD position will examine the various ways in which universities can contribute to smart specialization processes in their regions.
