During my research visit yesterday to the RGS-IBG's Collections, based in the Foyle Reading Room, my former colleagues were informed at approx 15:45 that the Society's Director (Prof. Joe Smith) had ordered the Collections to be closed this Friday. Only when I left, just after 17:00, did someone (neither Collections staff or Reception membet) indicate that a notice would be posted a.s.a.p. on the Society's website; there is certainly a notice attached to the FRR's 'Entrance' door - if one makes it that far downstairs! So - watch a space (and inform others) . . . Items that may already be 'on reserve' will, I guess, be retained until next Monday.
