Hi Gwen

Self employed AHFAP member, just put all work on hold for 12 weeks.

Photogrammetry is a topic I explored for my MA and looking at doing more; please keep me in such a loop to compare notes.

Kind regards

Nick Matthews

Hi All,

The University of Manchester closed all non-essential facilities on Tuesday 17th March at 5pm, including all Library facilities, so we are now working from home doing what we can.

Very similar to Carla in Edinburgh, finishing up current projects, maintaining imaging service for stock image enquiries and supporting the maintenance and development of our digital collections.

We are also developing our 3D Photogrammetry capabilities so if anyone wants to get together to compare notes then give us a shout! And (less interestingly) catching up on backlog work that we never get round to (documentation mainly). We are also being encouraged to create blog posts on our Special Collection blog to keep sharing the resources that are available while we are working remotely.

Still working out exactly how to work at home and keep in touch in the best ways, but using Office365 Teams and some video conferencing to stay connected.

Hope you all stay well, busy and supported by your institutions/companies/our government for those who are self-employed.

All the best

Gwen

Hi Richard, as of Wednesday past we photographers at Historic Environment Scotland are all working from home. All fieldwork has been cancelled for the foreseeable future and have been given various desk 'jobs' to do on laptops. The office is open on reduced times so we can access it if necessary.

Keep well,

Anne

Hi,

I think from my perspective it would be interesting to see who is still able to go to work and who isn’t?

How are the different institutions  handling this?

I am still at work as it is just me in a studio with enough objects to keep me going for a good while. Studio is in a separate building out on an airfield.

What are other people doing?

Cheers

Hi Yair

Thanks for sharing our news, in these unsettling times.

Agree we must all stay connected and learn from each other!

Keep safe and well!

Hello all,

I was watching Tony Grant’s (BL) recent 3D project on iPlayer (https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000gj57/click-half-life starts around 16:16) and wanted to share it but also thought about finding a suitable platform we can all use for sharing experiences, ideas for new projects, concerns etc. during this strange and challenging time.

I’m aware many will soon (or maybe are already) not be able to travel for work or even get into work so there will be shoots and projects being put on hold for an unknown period of time.

For those who are still able to stay connected from home (and cannot physically shoot anything) this can be a good time to catch up on learning, remote training, research on new tech and so on.

If admins are OK with that, perhaps we can use this email based platform as a start. I am also looking at setting up a community-type Linked-In or a Facebook group (closed or semi-closed) as it might be more appropriate and easy to use for sharing images, videos etc. Please comment if you think this is a good idea and which platform you are more likely to use (on mobile/ work laptop/ home computer etc.)

To share some of the stuff we at Phase One have already put in place: As we are a fairly international company, with office locations in several countries as well and staff in the field, and with many now “stuck” at home, we now have all teams, including R&D, set up so that we can work remotely. In fact there are engineers working from home while having full access and control over hardware that sits on their office desks. In addition we have various open channels for continuous communication between team members.

I now have a make-shift repro studio at home with everything I need for production of little demo and tutorial videos as we are looking to create more online content in the coming weeks and months. This is a great opportunity to practice and re-lube some long-forgotten video editing skills

Wishing everybody and their families a safe “journey” and hoping we’ll all come out of this stronger, kinder and smarter!

BR
