Hi,

I think from my perspective it would be interesting to see who is still able to go to work and who isn’t?

How are the different institutions handling this?

I am still at work as it is just me in a studio with enough objects to keep me going for a good while. Studio is in a separate building out on an airfield.

What are other people doing?

Cheers

Hello all,

I was watching Tony Grant’s (BL) recent 3D project on iPlayer (https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000gj57/click-half-life starts around 16:16<https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000gj57/click-half-life%20starts%20around%2016:16>) and wanted to share it but also thought about finding a suitable platform we can all use for sharing experiences, ideas for new projects, concerns etc. during this strange and challenging time.

I’m aware many will soon (or maybe are already) not be able to travel for work or even get into work so there will be shoots and projects being put on hold for an unknown period of time.

For those who are still able to stay connected from home (and cannot physically shoot anything) this can be a good time to catch up on learning, remote training, research on new tech and so on.

If admins are OK with that, perhaps we can use this email based platform as a start. I am also looking at setting up a community-type Linked-In or a Facebook group (closed or semi-closed) as it might be more appropriate and easy to use for sharing images, videos etc. Please comment if you think this is a good idea and which platform you are more likely to use (on mobile/ work laptop/ home computer etc.)

To share some of the stuff we at Phase One have already put in place: As we are a fairly international company, with office locations in several countries as well and staff in the field, and with many now “stuck” at home, we now have all teams, including R&D, set up so that we can work remotely. In fact there are engineers working from home while having full access and control over hardware that sits on their office desks. In addition we have various open channels for continuous communication between team members.

I now have a make-shift repro studio at home with everything I need for production of little demo and tutorial videos as we are looking to create more online content in the coming weeks and months. This is a great opportunity to practice and re-lube some long-forgotten video editing skills ☺

Wishing everybody and their families a safe “journey” and hoping we’ll all come out of this stronger, kinder and smarter!

BR

Yair
