Dear esteemed colleagues, As part of work to address barriers to participation and success in STEM, the Royal Society has commissioned the Careers Research & Advisory Centre (CRAC) to undertake a qualitative research project to understand the barriers to progression for scientists with disabilities/chronic illnesses/neurodivergence, as well as the low level of disclosure of disability, why this occurs and how it might be addressed. In order to understand better the lived experiences of scientists with disabilities/chronic illnesses/neurodivergence and barriers to disclosing disabilities, CRAC are seeking to interview 35-40 UK-based scientists from a range of career stages who have a disability and/or chronic illness, who are neuro-different, or who identify as disabled. Interviews will last around 45 minutes. If you are interested in participating in this research, please read the Call for Participants<https://eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.crac.org.uk%2Fpolicies%2Fresearch-project-qualitative-research-on-barriers-to-progression-for-disabled-scientists&data=02%7C01%7C%7C8a230110e6c5413fbb8308d7aef9f7b5%7C1faf88fea9984c5b93c9210a11d9a5c2%7C0%7C0%7C637170260943114304&sdata=6NZAB1c4Fns7MpK40mCzoXlrQ7rOrQS9pYocWgHjLy0%3D&reserved=0> and respond to this brief pre-interview questionnaire<https://eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.surveymonkey.co.uk%2Fr%2FRSdisabledscientistspreinterviewsurvey&data=02%7C01%7C%7C8a230110e6c5413fbb8308d7aef9f7b5%7C1faf88fea9984c5b93c9210a11d9a5c2%7C0%7C0%7C637170260943124299&sdata=AS3BuCsgQWX2e0jcY6CeOd1ON8nNfdzAuLW3xZsl0aU%3D&reserved=0> which seeks some information about you. This is so that CRAC can select an appropriate sample of interviewees that reflects a range of characteristics and environments. There is no guarantee that CRAC will be able to interview all who volunteer. CRAC understands the sensitivity of the topic and that individuals will need assurances that they will not be identifiable within the research. CRAC will ensure that your responses will be anonymous and that you are not identifiable in outcomes from the research. To find out how CRAC will process, store and protect response data, you can read their Data Privacy Notice<https://eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.crac.org.uk%2Fpolicies%2Fqualitative-research-on-barriers-to-progression-for-disabled-scientists&data=02%7C01%7C%7C8a230110e6c5413fbb8308d7aef9f7b5%7C1faf88fea9984c5b93c9210a11d9a5c2%7C0%7C0%7C637170260943124299&sdata=rgA%2B7n1rkDugf%2FAiPwZ%2BM8Aes9Ccc6WbgKzYxmy5Ei4%3D&reserved=0>.
