MESSAGE FOLLOWS:

I am a composer living and working in the UK. I write music that explores and expresses ideas relating to astronomy and particle physics in particular.

My pieces always relate to science.

I am looking for scientists to collaborate with on a number of projects. And in particular scientists who specialise in cosmology at the beginning of the university , Baryonic Acoustic Oscillations, dark matter defection experiments (especially those that use phonons as the “smoking gun”) and quantum theory as particle physics. I realise these are broad areas. But the most important thing is that you’re interested and curious to collaborate.

The projects are as follows:

“Cosmos”- Brighton Festival
This first performance of my piece “Cosmos” will be performed as part of Brighton Festival in May . This work is a choral piece that tells the story of cosmic evolution, but rather than through the lens of religion or mythology as many other works have, it uses the findings of science as it’s narrative structure.

I would love to work more closely with cosmologists on this piece. This piece is an ongoing project. I would also love to introduce a cosmologist to the choir I am working with. I think they’d love that!

Baryonic Acoustic Oscillations

I want to score those oscillations out- to create a score from the current data we have. I’d love to work with someone who is involved in the data so I can great a score that I up to date and meaningful map. I also want this to be able to change as our data changes.

Quantum Physics and Improvisation

This is an ongoing research project into the relationship between quantum physics and improvised music, and using concepts and ideas from quantum physics to create improvised music. The two worlds have rich turf between them to be explored. And I’d love to explore this in collaboration with experts.

Currently I am working with music groups to explore this.

Building a harmonic language from the Standard Model of Particle Physics- any particle physicists out there. Please get in touch!

In terms of commitment- you can be as involved or not as you wish to be. I know that you’re all really busy with projects and teaching!

The main thing at the stage is if you’re curious and excited, then do get in touch and we’ll see what unfolds.
