Dear Anita

I'd appreciate some clarification in response to your call for nominations for further members and assessors to the REF panel for media.

1) Is the executive board the same panel as decided on the first set of nominations?

2) Who on the exec board is also on the REF panel and how will any conflict of interests arising from the determination of further nominations be addressed?

3) Given that the board is overwhelmingly white and its nomination process last time delivered an entirely white REF panel, what provision will be made this time for equality and diversity considerations in the nominating process?

4) What proportion of the applications you received last time were from BAME candidates?

I am not intending to put my name forward for nomination however as a member of MeCCSA I am very concerned about due process and the lack of diversity in the last round. I'm posting these questions on list because the answers are likely to be of interest to others and the nomination process should be driven by a community agenda with transparency and accountability.

I look forward to your response.

Best
Dr Anita Howarth
