Dear Joanne, Jules, (and all)

These display stands are constructed from scaffolding tube held together with ‘kee klamp’ or ‘tubeclamp’ connectors (other brands are also available) and so are quick and easy and relatively cheap to put together. Smaller diameter tube can also be joined with similar fittings to make a physically and visually lighter frame.

Making bases for them is pretty straightforwards too - I’d use slabs of laser-cut steel as its fairly cheap, and being dense makes for a compact foot. The bases would be best powder coated. The tube and fittings are normally hot-dip galvanized, so start off silvery and weather to a kind of slightly powdery mid grey colour, but the tube and fittings can also be powder coated over the galvanising which means you could have them in pretty much any RAL colour you like.

Putting these things together would be quite easy for someone like me, who has an engineering workshop and regularly works with laser cutters and powder-coaters, to do.

Finally, Jules, I sent you an e-mail about this privately, but your gmail account seems to have blocked it, if you’re interested in further information about these frames please can you e-mail me off-list.

Best Regards

Richard.

I would like to take all the credit for the idea but have seen similar ideas on the continent (when we were still part of the EU…LOL) and wanted to replicate the idea here in windy and wet Cumbria.

The ones we require need to be self-standing with feet and safety blocks but essentially the same format as the photograph.
