Hi Dea,

Thank you for flagging this and my apologies for the quick email as I'm
dashing to a meeting. The job description brings up an important issue
within recruitment and retention of staff. Under the Equality Act it is
the duty of the organisation to provide reasonable adjustments to staff.
As the Equality Act covers across the 9 Protected Characteristics and
visible and hidden disabilities. Organisations should be in a position to
support talent within their existing teams as well as demonstrate
recruitment which are and working towards inclusive practice. It is well
known in other sectors, how beneficial this can be for the entire team in
terms of working practice as well as benefiting the visitor experience.

The ability to carry items upstairs is listed under essential in the job
description. This could be interpreted as placing at the responsibility of
the individual in how they could meet this task under the job description
criteria. However, this particular task should be met by the organisation
in how they provide these reasonable adjustments and what strategy they
have in place to reduce the need to carry items upstairs. This could be a
range from use of caretakers, having items already in the space and of
course,strategy for installing a lift.

With Best Wishes

Becki
