Attendees are also welcome to stay and attend our inaugural Shirley Lecture – delivered by Dame Stephanie Shirley CH. Dame Stephanie Shirley is an IT entrepreneur and passionate philanthropist and will be speaking about her life and perspectives on women, business, and philanthropy including the background and impact of her charitable foundation - the Shirley Foundation.
The University of Kent Special Collections & Archives were thrilled when Dame Stephanie agreed to deposit the archives of the Shirley Foundation with us in 2018, and initiate a project to develop the UK Philanthropy Archive.
Jeff James, Chief Executive and Keeper at the National Archives, will be introducing the lecture.
The Shirley Lecture will conclude with a wine reception, and book signing by Dame Stephanie Shirley, where you have the opportunity to purchase her book – “Let it Go” – the story of her extraordinary life. (suggested donation is £10 which goes to Dame Stephanie’s preferred charity – Autistica)
