Hi Ceri, I do a couple of introductory E&D sessions for all freshers during the first week of term. I can send you my slides if you like, but they are just the basis of the presentation; I talk around them a lot and get as much interaction going as I can (I do it in groups of around 100+ students so that can be challenging!) All new students also get a short session on Deaf Awareness and another one on Basic British Sign Language. We’ve been doing this for the last 5 years, since the introduction of our BA Performance in BSL and English, to ensure that all students can interact with their peers on this programme (even if only at a very fundamental level). It might seem a lot, but we are a very small institution! Let me know if you’d like further details.
