Sally, that absolutely goes without saying – it’s an essential part of the reading list here.

Happy Weekend everyone.

Best wishes

Dear all

I think a range of books is useful and we use both the Ashwin (mentioned previously) and John Lea (eds) Enhancing Learning and Teaching in Higher Education: Engaging with the Dimensions of Practice.

Can I also give a wee plug for the second edition of Developing your Teaching by Peter Kahn and myself that came out last year. It's part of the Routledge Key Guides for Effective Teaching in Higher Education series and includes case studies from colleagues across the sector and a really fascinating extended think piece by Helen King on teaching excellence through the lens of Deliberate Practice

https://www.routledge.com/Developing-Your-Teaching-Towards-Excellence-2nd-Edition/Kahn-Anderson/p/book/9781138591196

Packed with advice, vignettes and case studies, as well as useful tips and checklists for improving teaching, the second edition of Developing Your Teaching is the ideal toolkit to support the development of teaching practice. Providing a blend of ideas, interactive review points and case study examples from university teachers, this accessible handbook for professional practice provides ideas ...

Hello Laura, we don’t have one specific text and there are many really good books that we do use, however I am currently looking at an introduction to LT in HE by Peter Scales, which supports fellowship.  It maybe one that we adopt as a core text.

Does anyone use a specific book for the PGCert?

If so, which one do you recommend?!

Thank you.

Best wishes,

Laura

ps I really like Alan Mortiboys, Teaching with Emotional Intelligence in HE, but I don't think it is suitable as a coursebook for the whole PGCert.
