I ran these phrase through the Patrologia Latina Database and only found the Anselm.
The other reference looks like Bernard of Clairvaux on Missus est Grabriel.

medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear listmembers,
I recently came across an inscription in a window of Worcester Cathedral commemorating Bishop John Alcock  (1476-1486) which I am trying to understand better: "O duae gemmae coelestes Maria et Johannes mei custodes et apud Deum intercessores pro me existere dignissimi".  I had never heard of Mary and John the Evangelist being called "duae gemmae coelestes".  I googled it and got several hits, one to an oration by St Anselm, and another very abbreviated reference to "Bernard. hom. 2 sup. mis. est (v.1, t.3, p. 743 D)".  Am I correct in thinking this is St Bernard?  Can anyone disimpact this abbreviation?  And is "duae gemmae coelestes" a common appelation for Mary and John?  Any help gratefully accepted.
Cheers,
Jim
