The day includes:

(1) A keynote speech from Rachel Van Riel, founder and Director of Opening the Book.
Sometimes challenging as a ‘critical friend’ to libraries, Rachel Van Riel introduced the concept of "Reader Development" which has changed the way public libraries in the UK engage with their customers. She is a passionate advocate for libraries in the wider cultural and educational sector and her keynote speech at the Marketing Excellence Conference promises to be inspiring, challenging and thought-provoking.

(2) Presentations from the PPRG Marketing Excellence Award winners:
(i) Shetland Libraries for “eServices on the Up!" by Louise Arcus (Systems & Learning Assistant) and Kaye Riise.

(ii) Solihull Libraries for “They made it happen! Solihull's self-build revolution”: by Tracey Williams (Heritage and Local Studies Librarian).

(iii) Staffordshire Libraries for “Burton Bedtime Stories”.

(3) A workshop run by the PPRG Committee on Putting Together a Marketing Plan.
Delegates will be given a choice of either:
(i) Attending a workshop on how to develop a marketing plan (aimed at attendees keen to gain knowledge in the area)

OR

(ii) Attending a "shared experience" workshop for more experienced delegates, giving everyone a chance to learn from others and share their own marketing experiences.
