The University of Glasgow, School of Life Sciences is looking to appoint an External Examiner for its 4 first year courses.  The courses are:

·         Biology 1A (20 credits, semester 1)

·         Current Directions in Life Sciences (20 credits, semester 1)

·         Biology 1B (20 credits, semester 2)

·         Environmental Biology (20 credits, semester 2)

The examiner does not need to have specific research experience in all 4 courses but should be able to demonstrate previous experience of, and competency in, evaluating various assessments across Life Science related courses/modules at undergraduate level. The timeline of activity and examiner meetings will be:

·         October/November:  review and approve exam papers (by e-mail)

·         January: attend full-day external examiners meeting for semester 1 courses.  This normally takes place in the second half of January

·         February/ March: review and approve exam papers (by e-mail)

·         June: attend full-day external examiners meeting for semester 2 courses.  This normally takes place in the second half of June.

 

The new examiner will be appointed to being in September 2020.  We are advertising early to allow the successful applicant the opportunity to shadow the June Examiners meeting in preparation for taking over the role in September.
