Dear Colleague,

Advance HE would like to extend an invitation to existing or aspiring external examiners to take part in a professional development course for external examiners in Business and Management Education. The course has been developed by Advance HE and supported by the Chartered Association of Business Schools and the Certified Management & Business Educator. The course involves some online preparation work and two face-to-face workshops, which will take place on 25 March and 1 April, 2020 in Birmingham.

The course is being offered free of charge as part of the funded Degree Standards project, led by Advance HE and managed by the Office for Students. It is available for members of staff from higher education providers based in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The purpose of the project is to explore sector-owned processes focusing on professional development for external examiners and the calibration of academic standards.

Courses focusing on three o discipline areas – Geography and Law and Sport and Exercise Science – have been successfully delivered so far. Now we would like to invite you or members of your staff to take part in the Business and Management Education course.

The Integrated Professional Development Course will take place as follows:

Parts 2 and 3 will be delivered by Dr Berry O’Donovan, Principal Lecturer of Student Experience, at Oxford Brookes University and Professor Margaret Price, Professor Emerita of Assessment and Learning at Oxford Brookes University.
