Hello everyone,

Opinions on the below scenario would be greatly appreciated!

An organisation has stated the purpose of using CCTV and ensures it meets the “purpose limitation” principle, the principle is what an organisation must comply with under GDPR.

An individual has requested footage that does not fall in scope of the organisations purpose of using CCTV. However, an individual has the right of access under GDPR, and can request copies of all personal data the organisation holds about them.

Would the request be treated separately? The data subject initially stated their purpose for the request and the purpose does not adhere to the organisations policy but they have now requested this via a DSAR.

Regards,

Kat Kuzmin
