I am helping to organise an afternoon event on the topic of AI and Audiovisual Archives. This event will investigate the challenges and opportunities related to using audiovisual archives to develop artificial intelligence-powered tools for education and research.
 
Here at Learning on Screen, we are currently exploring the possibility of making our vast archive of digitised TV and Radio broadcasts (BoB) available for research purposes, and this forms the background to the event. BoB contains over 2 million TV and Radio Broadcasts some of which date back to the 1950s, with a minimum of 250 new broadcasts added every day.

The event will provide attendees with an opportunity to hear from experts on how these emerging technologies are likely to shape the future of education and research, and to explore potential collaborations across our network.
  
The event will feature discussions and panel presentations from Cath Sleeman - Head of Data at Nesta on 'How can big data improve our understanding of gender inequality in the creative industries?', Max Cleary - Partnerships Lead - AI, Immersive & 5G, Digital Catapult and Thomas Margoni - Senior Lecturer in Intellectual Property and Internet Law, CREATe, University of Glasgow on 'AI, machine learning and the role of copyright in protecting non personal "data"'.
 
Date: Friday 14th February, 3pm - 5pm (followed by a drinks reception)
