I have discussed this at the PMB and they agreed that there are many talented people on TB-support who might have really good ideas for designs. While there is no prize as such for winning, it should be noted that photos of the robot are likely to be used frequently for GridPP outreach etc over the next few years. Spectra have their own in house graphic designers who could do a design for us, or work with an existing idea, so the ideas don’t have to be perfectly polished. Our Robot is 9 frames long (one frame shorter than the NASA picture on their website), which means the dimensions of the picture will be roughly 1.6m high by 6.7m wide (with the control panel in the middle), so we have quite a bit of space to work with. It should include the GridPP Logo somewhere and we want to avoid pictures of recognisable people. Suggestions should be emailed to me, preferably within the next couple of weeks. I can’t give a fixed deadline just yet as I don’t know the time scales from Spectra but this will need to be completed this calendar year.
