Hello,

We are by no means experts (!) but are currently researching Georgian coaching inns for a new project at Beamish. My colleague thinks that it might be a brass from a horse bridle indicating that the horse belonged to the Inn, depending on when coaching finished in the area? Although the code seems a bit more modern than that…

Probably no help at all! J

Hello,

I don’t suppose anyone has any thoughts on what this little 2cm diameter tag could be for?

 Inscription…. M. Stocks, Red Lion hotel, Worsborough Bridge, KPBJ 232 / L?

The Red Lion Hotel was an old Georgian pub coaching in, in a semi-rural setting on the road to Sheffield from Barnsley. It has a nearby industrial canal / rail and farmland around. It is still a pub today and we think this might be from the early 20th century.

Mining (strange pit tag), breweries and sports teams might also be some thoughts. But other than this we have no idea so any thoughts would be great. I might try to find some very old people in the pub and ask them!

Thanks,

Steven
