When my father died, some places wanted a letter stating that I was a named
executor (just my own confirmation) and a copy of the death certificate.
This was enough to sort his shares, bank and utilities so suspect it'll be
more than enough for you. Others just wanted a copy of the death
certificate.

Your maintaining confidence, will, if it fulfils the criteria laid down be
done under the common law duty of confidence, and can exist in perpetuity.
So no issues there.

Simon.

Subject: [data-protection] Erasure request from estate of deceased

Hi

We've had an erasure (and training account closure) request from the
daughter of a customer who has died. Our policy is to maintain the
confidentiality of individuals beyond their death even if it does not
technically stay as personal data in GDPR once a person has died (as I
understand it). The policy is to ask for some kind of proof that the person
who has made the request has the power to administer the estate.

However this is the first such request we have received. I was wondering
what sort of proof would be reasonable and proportionate to ask for?
