CCPi Working Group: 18 December 2019

  1. Submit proposals for exchanges/ visits - network events.
  2. Networking continues; monthly Lunch-and-Learn sessions, complementing the visitors and software-show-tell events.
  3. Industrial Metrology sessions continue culminating with Royce Institute hosting the dimensional-XCT 2020 event. Linked to support for the BSI/ISO standardisation process (ISO/TC 213/WG 10)
  4. CCPi is on the governance board for Warwick, WMG “EPSRC Strategic Equipment - High Speed CT” EP/S010076/1 (initial meeting on 5 September 2019 – presentation planned for January 2020)
  5. Proposal to support a Royal Society Summer Science Exhibit in July 2020 and Turing Institute Summer School in June 2020

  7. Planning for the next four XCT summer events are ongoing.

Hackathon:
Prior to this; 16-17 December is a CIL (Core Imaging Library) Hackathon - email if you think this may be of interest.

Jobs:
- Exciting PhD opportunity fully funded by Medical Research Council & GE Healthcare for 3.5 years. The project will focus on the “Development of spinal cord PET-MRI for translational neuroscience”. The PhD researcher will join both the Universities of Sheffield & Leeds. Money:
- The ImagingBioPro Network has funding available to help stimulate inter-disciplinary research on imaging of orthopaedic and musculoskeletal processes, with a core focus on using the UK’s Large Facilities (e.g. Diamond Light Source, ISIS Neutron Source, and the Central Laser Facilities).
- The small grants – DHEs – will cover travel and subsistence costs for a day to a few weeks, normally with a maximum of £750. This includes movement of academics, medics, industrialists, PDRA’s and PhD students between groups with different disciplines or to/from Large Facilities.
- The big grants – PoCAs – will cover up to 2-months PDRA salary (at UCL rate: £21k, including overheads) and £3500 for research consumables, travel and subsistence - Deadline for application: APPLY NOW
