Yes, that would be my suggestion too. Zip them up and submit them. Of course you need to ensure that zip files are accepted by your system.
I don’t see that it would be the Safe HTML filter though. There is a list of file types prohibited by default that Bb won’t accept (BtBb can tell you what they are) and you can log a ticket with BtBb to get it amended. We did this in order
to ensure that all video files had to go into Kaltura and could not be uploaded directly into Bb.

Here at Brighton we get them to zip up the submitted files and include a url to any development site.

Hi Bb Users,
Has anyone got any recommendations or tips for handling submission of potentially harmful files into Assignment submission points?
Specifically we’ve been asked why student submissions of certain files are being rejected. I expect it’s going to be the SafeHTML filter doing it’s job. So any pointers for allowing Computer Science students to submit the following file types would be welcome:
- Java programming source code (e.g “source code such that it can be built with the standard tool called apache maven. This requires an XML configuration file called pom.xml”
- Webpage code containing XML/XHTML
- .modsim files in XML format
- Config/data files in XML-based formats

Martin
