Grade 7: £32,817-£39,152 p.a.
We are seeking to recruit a Medical Statistician to join the Oxford Clinical Trials Research Unit (OCTRU) and the Centre for Statistics in Medicine (CSM) within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) based at The Botnar Research Centre, Oxford. 

As a Medical Statistician you will contribute to the design, conduct, analysis and presentation of results of collaborative clinical trials across the many medical disciplines and phases of trials within a UKCRC registered Clinical Trials Unit. 

You will provide expert input on the statistical aspects of the design and set-up of clinical trials and produce statistical programs for analysis of trial data including generating, validating and monitoring randomisation schedules and performing interim and final analyses. You will lead on preparing and presenting closed reports and taking closed minutes at the regular independent DSMC meetings, contribute to and produce project reports, such as for independent Data and Safety Monitoring Committees and Trial Steering Committees.  You would also be expected to participate in statistical methodology research conducted within the unit.

You will have a postgraduate degree in statistics (or closely related subject), a substantial part of which relates to medical statistics, or equivalent experience. You will be fluent with key aspects of study design and analysis and aware of the latest statistical techniques. You will have good project management skills including the ability to manage and prioritise short and long term projects. Proficient knowledge of statistical software (Stata, SAS or R) as well as good verbal and written communications skills are also essential. Proficiency in statistical programming and experience of producing statistical reports and contributing to peer-review publications as well as substantial medical statistics experience, supported by a publication record are desirable.

This is a full time fixed term appointment for 2 years initially.

A lower grade offer may be made (Grade 6: £29,176 - £34,804 p.a.) with commensurate reduction in responsibilities if a suitable candidate cannot be found to fill the Grade 7 position.
